My Story…
Hello! I'm Lindsay, and I got my first migraine when I was 15 years old. 26 years, countless medications and therapies and lifestyle changes later, my migraine disease is currently classed as chronic, daily, and intractable -- which is a fancy way of saying I am always, 24/7/365, suffering with migraine and my brand is particularly medication-resistant.
If you don't know my story, that's the Cliff's notes version. If you have been in my life for a while, you know that having this neurological disorder affects every part of it, from my career to my home life to my overall health and beyond. Some days, I can't believe I have to live the rest of my life with migraine. Others, I tell my disease that IT is stuck with ME, and I do my level best to advocate for myself and live the life I want to live, rather than the life migraine dictates for me.
I am passionate about advocating for those who also suffer with migraine disease, as well as other chronic pain conditions, and bringing awareness to "invisible" diseases like mine. I do this run each year to remind myself what I'm capable of, as well as to raise money for research into migraine. This year, I have a team and donations will go to the very center I'm seen at for my migraines -- I can personally vouch for their commitment to finding better therapies for migraine, and to lessening the challenges people with migraine face.
I just want to have a career, be a wife and mother, and enjoy going for a run or reading a book, coaching my sons' sports teams and going on vacation. I'm not trying to live an extraordinary life, but I AM trying to live the life I believe everyone deserves. Won't you help me?
